S2 is a family business including the youngest two of four generations of bricklayers at present. The company was established by brothers Chris and Adrian, who inherited pride in their building work from their father and grandfather and wanted to manage their own projects. Founded in 2013, the company has recently celebrated 10 years of roaring success.

Chris & Ady

We subcontracted as bricklayers and builders before the foundation of S2, with a passion to create beautiful homes and bespoke one-off pieces, we eventually founded the business in 2013.

We have years of experience behind us, with Ady having an impressive 36 years and not far behind him is Chris with 27 years in the trade, both talented bricklayers and stonemasons, with a keen eye for detail and high-quality workmanship.

We are pleased to pass this knowledge on, with Ady’s son Mason recently joining the business as a qualified bricklayer.

The history of s²

after the war…

When our grandfather returned from World War 2, he took up bricklaying as his trade, working hard to do a good job on every project. After years of superb bricklaying, he introduced our father to the trade. They worked together for many years until our grandfather retired.

Several years later, dad introduced us to brick and stone masonry, and the three of us worked together for many years, just as he and his father had. Then, after a long and happy career, he retired.

For a long time after this, the two of us worked together as committed bricklayers and stoneworkers who did outstanding work for the building companies and individuals who hired us.

In 2013, we decided to launch a building business of our own to manage our own projects. The new company quickly gained a reputation for excellent work, particularly beautiful brickwork, stonework and joinery.

Happily, this reputation helped the business grow quickly, completing more and more high-quality projects for a wide array of customers. We have been lucky enough to rely on a rapidly developing reputation for excellence to bring in more discerning customers.
